Date: Feb. 10, 2024

Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Location: Newline Community Cafe (3618 W. Pierce St.)

Focus: Understanding the program and schedule, discussing TGG values and co-creating Community Agreements, cultivating a sense of belonging in fun, interactive ways, learning financial literacy basics (you'll be getting a paycheck!), and, most importantly, determining what it means to "lead one's life."

INTERNSHIP

Dates: Feb. 10 - May 11, 2024

Days/times: Mon/Wed 5:00 - 6:30 pm (virtual) + Sat 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (in person)

In-person location: PEAK Initiative (2480 W. Cherry St.)

 

Topics & Experiences:

  • Learn and utilize healthy nutrition basics

  • Practice culinary skills to bring out your inner chef

  • Learn from chefs how to design and cook healthy meals

  • Create the 2nd annual TGG cookbook featuring your recipes

  • Participate in a Supermarket Challenge to create a family meal on a budget

  • Building a resume and developing professional skills

To me, "leading my own life" now means that I know what decisions are better for me and I am able to trust myself to make the right choices.  It also means that I am informed enough to know ways that can help improve my life. This internship helped introduce me to many areas of life like finance and nutrition which will definitely help me feel more prepared as I grow into an adult and have to make important decisions.
